Life with Jesse Daniels

From the Publisher: Anna Devlin is just your average girl with an average life and eternal bad hair days. Living across the street from her prankster boyfriend, Derek, and his bug-loving brother, Jesse, —who also happens to be Anna’s best friend— life slips from ordinary to chaos when their out-of-control cousin, Greg, moves in.

As Greg and Tiffany, Anna's twin sister, develop a relationship, Anna’s in the middle of her own crisis when she realizes she not only has feelings for Derek, but she’s also a little bit in love with Jesse Daniels. Spending the end of the year with parties, prom, and dealing with conflicting feelings, Anna realizes she has to choose between her boyfriend and her best friend before it’s too late.

Making mistakes is just part of growing up, but for Anna it could mean losing everyone that matters to her. Life, however, takes a turn for the worse when Greg makes a bad decision which changes the course of everyone’s lives. Will Anna ever be able to own up to her mistakes? Will everyone be able cope in the face of tragedy? And what will this mean for the future of life with Jesse Daniels?

My Review: Chrissy Favreau’s debut coming-of-age novel is perfect for young adults, but can be enjoyed by the older crowd as well! This book is a fun, racy, and engaging read that will have you laughing one minute, and possibly tearing up the next. I noticed one reviewer said, “This is not just some ditzy teen drama but a realistic and hard hitting portrayal of real life and the consequences of feelings and mistakes.” Sums it up pretty good, I think.

Not only do we see Anna and her relationship with Derek, but we get to see feelings of how she starts falling for Jesse and the struggle that entails. Also, it brings to light emotions that have to be dealt with. If you remember anything about your teenage years, I'm sure you can relate ;) And if you're anything like me, I like a good love story!

As the reviewer said above, you don't have to be a teenager to enjoy this book, so why not give it a try? This entertaining and thought-provoking contemporary romance kept me hooked until the very end.
